Deer Taxidermy Classes:

Master Taxidermist Bill Atkins is the instructor in all of the Video Taxidermy Classes.  Students watch as he  covers the taxidermy supplies and tools needed to complete the Whitetail Deer mount, then he shows exactly how to take the correct measurements so the right materials can be ordered. 

The next step in the taxidermy class is actually "caping" the deer - or skinning the deer.  He show great short cuts to reduce the amount of sewing required later in the mounting process.  After caping out the deer, he goes into detail about how to properly flesh  the deer hide for preserving  (also referred to as shaving down the hide).  He discusses the options available to preserve the hide and the pros and cons for each method.

Then he prepares the hide for mounting and the manikin or form to receive the hide.  He shows exactly how to prepare the ears and set the eyes in place, setting the antlers.  No step is left out.  Bill uses terms that any beginner can understand.
